Roosevelt Allen, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A., in Gwinnett, a metro Atlanta based private practice that specializes in adult and pediatric urology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.

A native of Elberton, Georgia, Dr. Allen graduated from Clark Atlanta University with honors. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and was also elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society, during his junior year. He completed a general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Tennessee at Memphis.
Dr. Allen serves on various hospital committees, where he has been active in assuring quality patient care and in implementing and maintaining high professional standards.

Ronald E. Anglade, M.D.
Dr Anglade is a native of New York. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, Providence RI. He then returned to New York and received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center).
He completed a residency in surgery and urology at the Boston University School of Medicine. He stayed on in Boston as faculty and received additional training by Dr. Irwin Goldstein, one of the world?s experts in sexual dysfunction. He also completed a postgraduate fellowship in male infertility and microsurgery.
His research interests include genetic causes of male infertility. He served as a visiting scientist in the lab of Dr. David Page at the MIT/Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Reseach in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The focus of his work included the impact of Y chromosome microdeletions on normal sperm production.
He is currently on staff at Emory Eastside Medical Center, Gwinnett Medical Center, Northside Hospital, Crawford-Long Hospital and Dekalb Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Urological Association, The Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology.

Bruce H. Broecker, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.S.
Bruce H. Broecker, M.D., is a board certified urologist specializing in the practice of pediatric urology since July of 1980. He has served as chief of pediatric urology at both the Medical College of Virginia and Emory University School of Medicine. In 1990, he joined Pediatric Urology, P.C., a private practice specializing in pediatric urology. In June, 1977, Pediatric Urology, P.C., merged with Georgia Urology, P.A.
Dr. Broecker is on the medical staff of Egleston Children's Hospital, Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center, Crawford Long Hospital, Northside Hospital, and Grady Hospital.
Dr. Broecker is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. He completed his urology residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Broecker completed a postgraduate fellowship in pediatric urology at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, England, and the Children's Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University. Dr. Broecker is a clinical associate professor of surgery (urology) at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Broecker serves on various hospital committees and is active in various medical organizations. He is a member of the American Urologic Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Surgeons. He is strongly involved in the International Society of Pediatric Urology (ISPO) and Pediatric Oncology Group (POG).

Carl C. Capelouto, M.D.
Carl C. Capelouto, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A.
Dr. Capelouto has practiced urology in the Atlanta area since 1995. He is diplomate of the American Board of Urology, and he currently has affiliations with the following metro-Atlanta hospitals: Northside Hospital, Saint Joseph's Hospital, North Fulton Regional Hospital, R.T. Jones Hospital, Baptist North Hospital, West Paces Medical Center, Metropolitan Hospital, Dunwoody Medical Center, and Mountainside Medical Center.
Dr. Capelouto is a native of Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 1985. He went on to earn his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1989. At Emory, Dr. Capelouto graduated magna cum laude and was selected for Alpha Omega Alpha. His internship and junior residency in general surgery were completed at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his urological training at the Harvard Program in Urology.
Dr. Capelouto has contributed extensively to the urologic literature, including numerous scientific publications in leading urologic journals and formal presentations at national and international meetings. His special interests include female incontinence, urologic oncology, and endourology.

Darrell J. Carmen, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology,

Dr. Carmen joined Georgia Urology in 1995. He is board certified in urology by the American Board of Urology and he curently has affiliations with the following metro-Atlanta hospitals: Crawford W. Bert Chen, M.D.
Bert Chen, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr Chen obtained his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He earned his medical degree at Medical College of Georgia where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society. He completed his general surgery internship and Urology residency at the University of Michigan. He has published and presented research in the field of urologic oncology including prostate cancer and surgical techniques. He has experience in laparoscopy and minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of benign and malignant urologic disease.
Dr. Chen’s hospital affiliations include Dekalb Medical Center, Rockdale Medical Center, and Newton Medical Center. His areas of interests in addition to general urology include stone disease, female urology, and urologic oncology.

James M. Elmore, M.D.
Dr. Elmore, a pediatric urologist, joined the practice after completing his urologic training here in Atlanta, GA.
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Elmore earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following medical school he completed a six-year urology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He then went on to complete a two-year post graduate fellowship in pediatric urology at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Elmore is a recipient of the prestigious American Foundation for Urologic Diseases (AFUD) Research Scholarship for his work on the molecular mechanisms responsible for hypospadias. He has a multitude publications to his credit, and has presented at national and regional scientific meetings. He has also lectured and instructed others in robotics and laparoscopy, both in the U.S. and abroad. Areas of particular interest to him include pediatric laparoscopy and robotics, childhood renal stones, hypospadias and vesicoureteral reflux.
Dr. Elmore is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Society for Pediatric Urology. Walter Z. Falconer, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Walter Falconer is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College and from there entered the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Falconer received his general surgery and urologic surgery training at Emory University School of Medicine and affiliated hospitals.

Allen Futral, M.D.
Allen Futral, M.D., received a humanitarian education from Davidson College in North Carolina. After abandoning hopes of becoming a rock star, master carpenter, and tennis pro, he returned to medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Dr. Futral received his urology training at Emory University, where he was given the Grady Service Award and the Bill Cooner Award for compassion and clinical ability.
Dr. Futral's research interests have included renal transplant, pediatric urology, and prostate cancer.
Dr. Futral currently practices general urology, primarily in Conyers, but sees patients in Newton County, Decatur, and Henry County.

Lawrence M. Goldstone, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Lawrence M. Goldstone, M.D., is a partner of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. Prior to joining Georgia Urology, P.A., Dr. Goldstone was a member of a private practice specializing in adult and pediatric urology in Austin, Texas.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Goldstone received his undergraduate degree and M.D. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He received his general surgery training at the UCLA Hospital and Clinics, in Los Angeles, California. He served as a resident in urology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He received additional training as a fellow in urologic oncology at Baylor, under the auspices of Dr. Peter T. Scardino, one of the world's leading experts in prostate cancer surgery.
He has published several papers in leading medical journals and has made numerous presentations to medical societies across the country. His special interests include prostate cancer, reconstructive surgery of the lower urinary tract, male infertility, and microsurgery.
Dr. Goldstone is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Urological Association; the American Cancer Society; the American Fertility Society; the Society for the study of Male Reproduction; and the American Society of Andrology. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, Austin, Texas Chapter, and is presently a board member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.

Joseph A. Haas, M.D., F.A.C.S
Joseph Haas, M.D., obtained his undergraduate degree from Harvard, cum laude, and earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. He completed his residency training in urology at the University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals.
Dr. Haas's additional post graduate medical education included a surgical residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland and designation as a National Institute of Health Trainee in Urology at the University of Minnesota Hospital.
Dr. Haas has a special interest in impotence, minimally invasive surgery, and incontinence.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Haber is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton. He received his medical degree from Emory University and was also elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society. He completed an internal medicine internship and general surgery residency at Emory University affiliated hospitals. He then completed his residency in urology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Haber serves on various hospital committees throughout the metro area. He is chairman of the quality asurance/utilization review committee for Georgia Urology Associates, where he has been active in developing treatment algorithms and clinical pathways for many urologic diseases and procedures.

Charles R. Kaplan, M.D.
Charles R. Kaplan, MD joined Georgia Urology in 2000. He received his bachelor?s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Kaplan then went on to New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center for his general surgery training. Following two years of surgical residency, Dr. Kaplan completed four years of urology residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. While at Georgetown, Dr. Kaplan did extensive research on improving the technique of the prostate biopsy thus enhancing the detection of prostate cancer. Dr. Kaplan received the Pfizer scholars in urology award during his urology residency.
Dr. Kaplan?s interests are in stone disease, urological-oncology, impotence, and female incontinence. Dr. Kaplan is a diplomat of the American Board of Urology, a member of the American Urological Association, The South Eastern Section of the AUA, The Mid-Atlantic Section of the AUA, and The Washington Urological Society.

Vahan S. Kassabian, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Vahan S. Kassabian, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology, a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Kassabian has worked in the field of urology for more than seven years. Prior to joining Georgia Urology, he was assistant professor of surgery at Emory University. He practiced urologic oncology at Emory University Hospital and each of its affiliated hospitals, including Crawford Long Hospital. He was also chief of urology at the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta and served on several committees, including the Cancer Committee and the Peer Review Committee.
During his years in academic medicine, Dr. Kassabian was dedicated to training residents and medical students in urology and was honored with the "Teacher of the Year" award at Emory for his contribution to excellence in education.
Dr. Kassabian has written numerous publications, articles, and book chapters, has made presentations at both national and international meetings, and has lectured extensively on prostate cancer and prostate diseases. Dr. Kassabian performs clinical research, especially in prostate disease. He is also interested in urinary diversion and percutaneous surgery. In addition to his fellowship training in urologic oncology, he is certified in microsurgical techniques.
Dr. Kassabian received his medical degree from the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec, in 1985 after brief clerkships at McGill University and the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School. He completed his urologic residency at the University of Montreal in 1990 and also completed additional training as a research fellow in urologic oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, in 1991. He later served as clinical instructor of urologic oncology in 1992.

Andrew J. Kirsch, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Kirsch earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center in New York, where he received two NIH Research Fellowship Awards and was inducted into Sigma Xi Research Society. In 2006, he was honored by his medical school as the Master Teacher in Urology.
He completed both a residency in general surgery and urology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, and completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Urology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was an American Foundation for Urological Diseases Scholar.
Dr. Kirsch is Past President for the Society for Fetal Urology, and is a member of the AUA, AAPU, AAP, and SPU. He has written extensively in the field of pediatric urology, with emphasis on vesicoureteral reflux and magnetic resonance urography, publishing over 160 journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Kirsch has invented a surgical device and developed an endoscopic technique to correct urinary reflux in children that has become the standard of care for children worldwide. He has lectured and instructed on his surgical technique throughout North America, South America and Europe. He has served on the Advisory Committee to the American Board of Urology and was Sub-specialty Editor of the Journal of Urology. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, Urology, J. Pediatric Urology, and Pediatrics. He also serves as the Membership Liaison to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section of Urology and has co-directed courses on fetal hydronephrosis and urinary tract infection at the AAP. He was elected to the Executive Committee of the AAP, Section of Urology in 2008.
Currently, Dr. Kirsch is Clinical Professor of Urology at Emory University School of Medicine, Academic Director of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship, and Medical Director for pediatric research. At Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta he serves on the Clinical Operations Committee and Clinical Research Oversight Committee. He is the current President of Georgia Urology, PA.

A. Keith Levinson, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Levinson is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and earned his medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
He completed a two-year residency in general surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, a three-year residency in urology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, and a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He became board certified in urology in 1993.
Dr. Levinson is a past president of the Atlanta Urological Society. He has presented and published numerous papers in the field of urologic oncology including prostate and bladder cancer. He also has extensive experience and interest in female urinary incontinence.

Harvey A. Mannes, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Harvey A. Mannes is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A., specializing in adult and pediatric urology. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Mannes received his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After completing two years of general surgery training at North Shore Hospital, Manhassett, New York, he returned to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for his urological residency. During his training, he published multiple articles and presented scientific papers at regional and national meetings.
Following two years of military service as a staff urologist at Reynolds Army Hospital at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he entered private practice and currently works at the Austell and Lithia Springs offices of Georgia Urology, P.A.
Dr. Mannes has been both chief of surgery and chief of staff of Columbia Parkway Hospital and is chairman of the Public Education and Cancer Detection subcomittee of the Cancer Committee for the Promina Northwest Health System.
In addition to his interest in the diagnosis and treatment of urologic cancers, he has a special interest in male sexual dysfunction and urinary stone disease. He frequently lectures on these and other topics to hospital and community groups.

Jerome M. Marchuk, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Jerome Marchuk received his Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude from Loyola University in 1968 and his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 1972, both in Chicago. He served his surgical residency and one year of his urological residency at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago and his final year of urological residency at the Montreal Children's Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He served in the 2nd Marine Division from 1973 to 1975. Most recently, in 1998, he received a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Georgia/Kennesaw State University.
He is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
Dr. Marchuk has been an associate Professor of Surgery in the Department of Urology at Emory University Hospitals since 1994. He maintains memberships in both regional and national medical societies including the Atlanta Urologic Society and the Medical Association of Atlanta as well as the American Urological Association.

Charlotte A. Massad, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Massad, a pediatric urologist, is from Fredericksburg, Virginia. After high school she attended the College of William and Mary and graduated in 1980 with a degree in plant biology. She attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and finished in 1983.
Dr. Massad came to Atlanta in 1983 for her internship in general surgery at Emory University. She continued there for five more years completing her urology residency in 1989. Following her residency she moved to San Francisco, California, to pursue two years of fellowship training at UCSF in pediatric urology where she was awarded a National Kidney Foundation Grant for research in fetal urology, specifically in prenatal urinary obstructions. She is the author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters on pediatric urologic topics.
Dr. Massad returned to Atlanta in 1991 to join Doctors Woodard, Parrott and Broecker in the practice of pediatric urology. She is a member of the medical staff of Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center, Egleston Children's Hospital, and Northside Hospital. She is a clinical faculty member of Emory University, where she teaches urology residents and is also a fellow in pediatric urology.
Dr. Massad is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the Society of Pediatric Urologists, American Urologic Association, Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons.
Dr. Massad's practice is limited to pediatric urology. She sees patients at the Meridian Mark, Alpharetta, and Gwinnett offices. She lives in Atlanta with her husband, Steven Friedman, two dogs and a cat. Her personal interests are travel, scuba diving and skiing, art and gardening.

Scott D. Miller, M.D.
Having arrived in Atlanta in 1995, Dr. Scott Miller was the first urologic laparoscopist in the state of Georgia. Specializing exclusively in laparoscopic and robotic urologic surgery, he performs approximately 300 procedures of this type annually. He actively develops new surgical techniques and shares his methods and results with surgeons around the world.
Dr. Miller graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his urologic residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. During his training in the early 1990's, his residency program was one of the first centers to embrace advanced urologic laparoscopy techniques. Seeing the virtues of laparoscopy before it was widely accepted, he was one of the first urologists to perform these procedures in a large scale outside of an academic center. In 1995, Dr. Miller performed the first laparoscopic kidney removal for cancer in the state of Georgia. He later performed Georgia's first laparoscopic prostate removal in 2000 and Georgia's first robotic prostate removal in 2003. He was also the first in the state to perform complex reconstructive procedures of the urinary tract laparoscopically. He currently has one of the largest and most diverse experiences in laparoscopic and robotic urology in the Southeast.
Dr. Miller is an active member of many professional societies including the American Urological Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the Endourological Society. Jeffrey G. Proctor, M.D.
Jeffrey G. Proctor, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A., an Atlanta-based private practice that specializes in adult and pediatric urology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Proctor has practiced urology since 1992. Prior to joining Georgia Urology, he was a lieutenant commander in the Navy at Naval Hospital Pensacola, where he served as chief of urology. For the past two years he has been in private practice in North Carolina. Dr. Proctor has served on several committees, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutic, Laser Safety, and Ethics Committees.
Dr. Proctor, a native of Seattle, Washington, grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of California at Irvine and went on to earn a master of science degree in molecular biology and biochemistry while doing research in immunology at the same institution. Dr. Proctor received his medical degree from New York Medical College, where he graduated with honors and received the Sprague Carlton, M.D., award for proficiency in urology. His internship and junior residency in general surgery, and his urological residency were completed at New York Medical College.
Dr. Proctor has numerous publications in both urology and immunology, and has made presentations at national meetings. His areas of interest include stone disease, endourology, urological oncology, incontinence and general urology. Dr. Proctor is a member of the American Urological Association, and the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association.

Joel A. Rosenfeld, M.D.
Joel A. Rosenfeld, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Prior to joining Georgia Urology, P.A., in 1996, Dr. Rosenfeld practiced adult and pediatric urology in North Carolina and subsequently established urology practices for two hospitals in North Georgia. He is on the medical staff of Northside Hospital, Saint Joseph's Hospital, Scottish Rite Hospital, Kennestone Hospital, Cobb Hospital, Parkway Hospital, R.T. Jones Hospital, Mountainside Medical Center, and North Georgia Medical Center.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Rosenfeld received his undergraduate degree in health systems engineering from Georgia Tech, where he graduated with highest honors. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and then served as resident in general surgery and urology at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. During his residency, Dr. Rosenfeld worked closely with Dr. Mark Soloway, a world renowned authority on bladder cancer.
Dr. Rosenfeld has published papers on benign diseases of the prostate, infections involving the genital tract, and bedwetting. His special interests include surgical and medical treatments of female incontinence, bladder cancer, and reconstructive surgery of the male urethra.
Dr. Rosenfeld is a member of the American Urological Association, American Medical Association, and has served as a chapter officer for the Medical Association of Georgia.

Hal C. Scherz, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.P.
Hal C. Scherz, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. His practice is limited to pediatric urology.
Dr. Scherz has practiced pediatric urology since 1987. He joined Georgia Urology, P.A., in 1994 and currently serves on the medical staff of the following hospitals: Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center; Egleston Children's Hospital; Southern Regional Medical Center; Northside Hospital; Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta; West Paces Medical Center; Kennestone Hospital; South Fulton Medical Center; Georgia Baptist Medical Center; and Crawford W. Long Hospital of Emory University.
A native of New York City, Dr. Scherz received his master of science degree from Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York, and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, Texas. He was a surgical intern and resident and completed a urology residency at the University of California Medical Center, in San Diego, California. He completed a fellowship in pediatric urology at Children's Hospital Medical Center in San Diego. He stayed on as an assistant professor of surgery/urology at UCSD Medical Center and as an attending surgeon at Children's Hospital. He was an associate of Pediatric Urological Associates in San Diego.
Dr. Scherz is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the following professional associations: American Urological Association; Society of Pediatric Urology; American Association of Pediatric Urologists; American Medical Association; and Genitourinary Reconstruction Society. He is board certified in urology and has undergone additional training in microsurgery, urologic lasers, ureterscopy, ultrasound, and laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Scherz has to his credit numerous publications in peer review journals, chapters in medical textbooks, and has been a speaker at many national medical meetings and societies.

Scott W. Shelfo, M.D.
Scott W. Shelfo, M.D., is new associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. A native of New York, Dr. Shelfo attended an accelerated six year biomedical program at Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College of New York. He completed his education two years early, graduating cum laude, and being elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society. He completed two years of general surgery training, in addition to his residency in urology, at the Yale University School of Medicine. After his training at Yale, Dr. Shelfo further specialized by completing a urologic oncology fellowship at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he received extensive training on the medical and surgical management of prostate, bladder, kidney, and testis cancers. During that time he published several chapters and research articles on the management of both prostate and bladder cancer and presented at regional and national meetings.
Dr. Shelfo is on the medical staff of the following hospitals; Southern Regional Medical Center, Fayette Community Hospital, Henry County Hospital, South Fulton Hospital, and Crawford Long Hospital. He is a member of the American Urologic Association and the Southeastern Section Urologic Association and is an associate of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Shelfo's area of interest in addition to general urology are female urology, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and bladder reconstruction.

A. Paul Sherlag, M.D.
A. Paul Sherlag, M.D., is a partner of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Sherlag joined Gwinnett Urological Clinic, P.C., in 1990, which merged with Georgia Urology in 1997. He is on the medical staff of the following hospitals: Eastside Medical Center, Gwinnett Medical Center, Joan Glancy Hospital, Barrow Medical Center, Georgia Baptist Medical Center, Dekalb Medical Center, and Decatur Hospital.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Sherlag is a phi beta kappa graduate of Wayne State University and received his medical degree at Wayne State University of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at Emory University.
Dr. Sherlag serves on various hospital committees and is currently the Chief of Surgery at Eastside Medical Center. He is a member of the American Urological Association and the current president of the Atlanta Urological Society. Fred S. Shessel, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Fred S. Shessel, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a recent addition to the partnership of Georgia Urology, P.A. He joined the group in October of 1997. Dr. Shessel is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Shessel is a founding member of Perimeter Urology, P.C., and has practiced in Atlanta for the past 18 years. He is currently on the staff of Northside and St. Joseph's Hospital.
A native Atlantan, Dr. Shessel is a cum laude graduate of Yale University. He graduated from Yale Medical School with honors having written a doctoral thesis on Prostaglandin neuro-chemistry. Following a general surgery internship and residency at Emory University affiliated hospitals, Dr. Shessel completed four years of urology residency at the University of Miami. During that time, he was awarded a one year fellowship at the Institute of Urology in London, England, to study urodynamics and lower urinary tract function.
Dr. Shessel is currently the vice-chief of surgery at Northside Hospital. He is also the medical director of the Urodiagnostic Laboratory at Northside Hospital. He is one of ten urologists in the United States who are certified to train other physicians in the use of transurethral microwave therapy. He has also served as the national medical director for the Lithotripsy Division of Coram Healthcare. He continues to serve as president and chairman of the Board of North Georgia Lithotripsy Associates.
Dr. Shessel's main interests are in minimally invasive procedures and tele-medicine. His areas of expertise include laparoscopy, lithotripsy, microwave therapy, and urinary incontinence. He is a member of the American Urologic Association, the Medical Association of Atlanta, the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Surgeons.

Edwin A. Smith, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Smith is a board certified urologist specializing in the practice of pediatric urology since completing his fellowship training in pediatric urology in 1996. He serves on the medical staff of Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta, Northside Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital and The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Dr. Smith is a native Georgian from Statesboro and a graduate of Davidson College. He received his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine. His general surgery internship and urology residency were completed at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. As a chief resident he was the first recipient of the William H. Cooner Award for excellence in patient care. Dr. Smith completed a two year post graduate fellowship in pediatric urology at Egleston Children?s Hospital and Scottish Rite Children?s Hospital. Dr. Smith is a clinical faculty member at Emory University. He has served on various hospital committees.
Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of several professional medical associations including the American Urological Association, Society for Pediatric Urology, and the Society for Fetal Urology. He has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters and has a special interest and broad experience in management of pediatric urinary stone disease and genitourinary reconstructive surgery.

Edward Stark, M.D.
Edward Stark, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Stark joined Georgia Urology in 1997, but was in private practice three years prior to his affiliation with Georgia Urology. He is on staff at the following hospitals: Eastside Medical Center, Gwinnett Medical Center, Barrow Medical Center, and Atlanta Out-Patient Service at Northside Hospital.
A native of New York, Dr. Stark is a summa cum laude graduate of the City University of New York. He received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Stark completed a general surgery and urology residency at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital, Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Stark completed a one year fellowship in male infertility and impotency at the University of California in Los Angeles.
His areas of interest include male infertility, impotence, treatment of Peyronie's disease, incontinence, stone disease, and general urology. Dr. Stark is a member of the American Urologic Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for Male Reproduction and Urology, and the Atlanta Urological Association.

Jerry Yuan, M.D., F.A.C.S
Dr. Yuan is a graduate of Houston Baptist University and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Yuan completed his general surgery / urology training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and a postgraduate fellowship in male reproductive medicine and microsurgery at University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Yuan served as a staff urologist in the U.S. Air Force between '92 - '95. Prior to starting his own practice, Doctor Yuan held the appointment of Assistant Professor of Urology at Emory University School of Medicine specializing in general urology and male infertility. He is a member of the American Urological Association and American Society of Reproductive Medicine amoung others. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Barry M. Zisholtz, M.D., F.A.C.S
Barry M. Zisholtz, M.D., is an associate of Georgia Urology, P.A. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Zisholtz began practicing urology in 1988 and joined Georgia Urology. P.A., in 1991. Currently, he is on staff at Crawford W. Long Hospital of Emory University; Georgia Baptist Medical Center; Henry General Hospital; Metropolitan Hospital; Northside Hospital; Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta; South Fulton Medical Center; Southern Regional Medical Center; and West Paces Medical Center.
A native of Suffern, New York, Dr. Zisholtz received his M.D. from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and participated in under-graduate medical research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.
He was awarded a summer fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Metropolitan Hospital in New York. At Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Zisholtz served as surgical intern and resident, and completed his chief residency year in June, 1988.
Dr. Zisholtz is a member of the Atlanta Urological Society and the American Urological Association.
